The Nigerian Navy has dismissed a rating identified as SMMEA Uma Tu E5618 following disciplinary proceedings for breaches of military regulations.

In a statement released on its official X account on Tuesday, the Navy said the personnel was found guilty of disobedience to lawful orders and absence without official leave, offences punishable under the Armed Forces Act.

The statement read in part: “SMMEA Uma Tu E5618 has been dismissed from the Nigerian Navy. The rating was found culpable of disobedience to lawful orders and absence without official leave in line with the Armed Forces Act. Anyone who interacts with him as a naval personnel does so at their own risk.”

The service explained that the action followed established disciplinary procedures, which confirmed his culpability after due process.

The Navy described the offences as serious violations of military conduct expected of serving personnel and stressed that strict adherence to regulations remains central to operational discipline.

Following the dismissal, the Navy cautioned members of the public that the individual is no longer in its service and should not be treated as a serving naval personnel.

It reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining discipline, accountability, and professionalism within its ranks, noting that enforcement of military standards is essential to operational effectiveness.
