COAS Applauds Troops for Crushing IPOB/ESN Strongholds in South-East

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, has commended troops of Operation UDO KA for their resilience and sustained offensives against IPOB/ESN elements in the South-East.
He gave the commendation during a Special Sallah Luncheon held in Orsu, an area once regarded as a major insurgent stronghold. Represented by Maj.-Gen. Valentine Okoro, the COAS praised the frontline troops for successfully clearing terrorist hideouts and dismantling criminal networks despite persistent threats from improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
Shaibu reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to professionalism and its constitutional mandate to safeguard lives and property. He also commended the General Officer Commanding 82 Division and Commander of Joint Task Force Operation UDO KA, Maj.-Gen. Oluremi Fadairo, for strengthening inter-agency collaboration and advancing intelligence-led operations in the region.
The Army Chief further extended goodwill to wounded soldiers, assuring them of sustained welfare support under the “Soldier First” policy. He urged residents of the South-East to continue cooperating with security agencies by providing timely and credible intelligence, stressing that collective efforts remain crucial to consolidating recent gains and restoring lasting peace.
