Federal Fire Service Conducts Tactical Fire Drill and Search and Rescue Exercise at United Nations Nigeria

The Federal Fire Service has conducted a Search and Rescue and Tactical Fire Drill at the United Nations Nigeria facility as part of efforts to strengthen the protection of safety critical assets and enhance emergency preparedness across key institutions in the country.
The exercise was carried out in collaboration with the United Nations Department of Safety and Security and formed part of ongoing initiatives to reinforce coordinated emergency response mechanisms within critical national and international facilities operating in Nigeria.
The operation featured active participation from CSF Adediran Adekanmi of the Federal Fire Service and Major Muhammed Isa (Rtd.) of the United Nations Department of Safety and Security. Both officers worked closely to ensure effective coordination between firefighting personnel and the security management structure of the facility during the exercise.
The drill was coordinated by CSF Manu Sunday, who supervised the planning and operational execution of the simulation. The exercise focused on improving emergency readiness through practical demonstrations of rapid response procedures, search and rescue operations, evacuation protocols, and effective collaboration between firefighters and security teams within the complex.
During the exercise, staff members of the United Nations Nigeria facility were sensitised and educated on essential fire safety practices. The session covered emergency evacuation procedures, appropriate actions to take during fire incidents, and the importance of maintaining vigilance in preventing fire outbreaks in the workplace.
Participants were also trained on the early reporting of fire emergencies and the correct use of firefighting equipment. The awareness session emphasised that prompt action and adherence to safety procedures remain critical in minimising risks and protecting lives and property.
The exercise further demonstrated the commitment of the Federal Fire Service under the leadership of Olumode Samuel Adeyemi to strengthening emergency preparedness and safeguarding lives, property and vital assets through proactive training and strategic partnerships. The initiative also aligns with the policy direction of the Federal Ministry of Interior Nigeria, led by Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and supports the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Federal Government aimed at enhancing national safety and institutional preparedness.
