IGP Disu Assigns Portfolios to Eight New Deputy Inspectors General

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Disu, has officially assigned portfolios to the eight newly decorated Deputy Inspectors General of Police (DIGs) following their promotion on Monday.

​According to Force sources, the postings were determined based on the specialized competencies and career backgrounds of the senior officers. The move is part of the IGP’s broader strategy to enhance administrative efficiency and operational precision within the Nigeria Police Force.

​During the decoration ceremony, IGP Disu urged the new DIGs to exercise courage and decisiveness in their new roles, reminding them of the high level of responsibility required by their rank. He further emphasized his commitment to intelligence-driven policing and warned that he would not hesitate to apply strict disciplinary measures, including dismissal, for professional misconduct.

​The specific departmental assignments are as follows:

  • Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID): DIG Margaret Agebe Ochalla
  • Information and Communication Technology (ICT): DIG Fayoade Adegoke
  • Force Intelligence Department (FID): DIG Kenechukwu Onwuemelie
  • Operations: DIG Umar Shehu Nadada
  • Finance and Accounts: DIG Mohammed Abdul Sulaiman
  • Legal Services: DIG Zachariah Fera Achinyan
  • Training and Development: DIG Isyaku Mohammed
  • Research and Planning: DIG Zango Ibrahim Baba

​The IGP also reiterated that while the welfare of officers remains a top priority under his leadership, the new management team is expected to deliver immediate results in tackling national security challenges.
