The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Jigawa State Command, has arrested a suspected scrap dealer for unlawful possession of vandalised electrical cables.
The suspect, Muhd Adamu, a 50-year-old scrap dealer from Maruwa town in Kafin Hausa Local Government Area, was arrested on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at about 3:00 p.m.
According to the Command, operatives recovered an aluminium cable measuring about 267 metres from the suspect. The cable is estimated to be worth approximately ₦573,300.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the cable was allegedly brought to the suspect’s residence for safekeeping by two accomplices identified as Sani and Auwalu, both from Ruba village in Kafin Hausa Local Government Area. The two suspects are currently at large.
The suspect is presently in custody while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing accomplices and bring them to justice.
Reacting to the development, the State Commandant of the NSCDC in Jigawa warned individuals involved in the vandalism of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure to desist from such illegal activities or face the full weight of the law.
He also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities around public infrastructure to security agencies across the state.
The Command reassured residents of its continued commitment to safeguarding Critical National Assets and Infrastructure and ensuring the protection of lives and property across Jigawa State.
