The Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, Superintendent of Corps Oluwaseun Abolurin, celebrated his birthday with boys at the Special Correctional Centre in Oregun, Ikeja, on Saturday, February 28, 2026.
The facility, located in Oregun area of Ikeja and led by Mr. Bashir Iyakpo, received the PRO, his family, friends, guests, and well-wishers for the special occasion. The visit was marked by encouragement, goodwill messages, and gestures of support for the boys at the centre.
Speaking during the event, the NSCDC PRO used the opportunity to inspire the children, urging them to reflect on the consequences of crime and to embrace positive behaviour as they prepare for reintegration into society. He emphasized the need to renew hope and make better choices upon regaining their freedom.
The Director-General of the Institute of Criminology and Strategic Studies of Nigeria, Dr. Adekunle Aderemi, was represented by his daughter, Favour Adekunle, who delivered a motivational address. She told the boys that freedom does not automatically guarantee purpose, stressing that purpose can be discovered in any environment — including a correctional facility — and can spark a transformative turnaround. She also presented gifts to the boys in honour of the PRO’s birthday.
The event, themed “Ministry Without Building, Humanity Without Party,” featured prayers, praise sessions, goodwill messages, and words of encouragement from guests. The PRO expressed appreciation to all attendees and encouraged other celebrants to consider supporting inmates, orphans, and vulnerable members of society when marking special occasions. Among those present were members of his family, including his elder brother DSC Oluwaseyitan Abolurin, as well as friends and associates who joined in making the celebration memorable.
