Tragic Accident: Female NSCDC Officer Killed During Training Exercise in Abuja


A female officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has died after being struck by one of the Corps’ operational vehicles during a training exercise in Abuja. The incident occurred while the unit was conducting a simulation meant to enhance operational readiness.
The spokesperson for the NSCDC, Afolabi Babawale, confirmed the accident to reporters on Saturday, describing it as a “tragic occurrence” that has deeply affected the Corps. Authorities have assured that a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is underway.
According to preliminary reports, the officer was participating in the exercise when the vehicle involved accidentally hit her. Emergency responders were immediately on the scene, but the officer succumbed to her injuries before she could be transported to a hospital.
NSCDC leadership has expressed condolences to the family, colleagues, and friends of the deceased officer. They emphasized the Corps’ commitment to reviewing training protocols and operational safety measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
The tragic event has sent shockwaves through the NSCDC community, highlighting the inherent risks involved in operational training exercises. Officials have called for careful adherence to safety standards while maintaining the necessary rigor for preparedness drills.
