A female officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has died after being struck by one of the Corps’ operational vehicles during a training exercise in Abuja. The incident occurred while the unit was conducting a simulation meant to enhance operational readiness.
The spokesperson for the NSCDC, Afolabi Babawale, confirmed the accident to reporters on Saturday, describing it as a “tragic occurrence” that has deeply affected the Corps. Authorities have assured that a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is underway.
According to preliminary reports, the officer was participating in the exercise when the vehicle involved accidentally hit her. Emergency responders were immediately on the scene, but the officer succumbed to her injuries before she could be transported to a hospital.
