The Governor of Taraba State, Agbu Kefas, has appointed the Acting State Controller of the Federal Fire Service, Taraba State Command, ACF Yakubu Samson Dungus, MIDRMSS, as Chairman of a 16-member high-powered committee to investigate the immediate causes of recent fire outbreaks in Jalingo and its environs.
The committee has been mandated to examine the underlying causes of the incidents, assess the response capacity of firefighting and other emergency agencies, identify operational challenges, and submit comprehensive recommendations aimed at preventing future occurrences. The panel is expected to present its report to the state government within two weeks.
The appointment follows a series of fire incidents recorded in Jalingo and other parts of the state in recent weeks. In response, the committee has commenced work, including visits to affected sites to gather relevant data for proper analysis.
The Federal Fire Service reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding lives and property and assured residents of continued collaboration with the state government and other stakeholders to strengthen fire prevention and emergency response mechanisms across Taraba State.
