The Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa (retd.), has praised Dauda Lawal for strengthening security operations in Zamfara State through the procurement of armoured personnel carriers, surveillance drones, and other critical operational equipment.
Speaking at a ceremony held at the Government House in Gusau on Wednesday, Governor Lawal formally distributed the armoured vehicles and additional equipment to security operatives to support ongoing efforts against insecurity in the state.
In a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, it was disclosed that 25 sophisticated Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) were procured and commissioned. The vehicles are expected to significantly enhance troop protection, particularly during deployments to high-risk and conflict-prone areas across Zamfara.
The statement further revealed that the state government also acquired an advanced surveillance drone with an 80-metre endurance capacity. The drone can cover a distance of up to 50 kilometres and operate continuously for eight hours, thereby improving intelligence gathering and real-time monitoring of security operations.
In his address at the event, Governor Lawal described the Defence Minister’s presence as a clear demonstration of strong collaboration between the Federal Government and Zamfara State. He noted that the partnership reflects a united front and shared determination to restore peace, strengthen lawful authority, and ensure the safety of citizens.
