NSCDC Lagos Strengthens Community Partnership to Protect Critical Assets in Agege, Agbado Oke-Odo, Ayobo-Ipaja, Ifako-Ijaye and Ojokoro


The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, has reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI) across communities in the state. The Command emphasized that it remains resolute in protecting government installations and public infrastructure located in every part of Lagos.
As part of this commitment, the Area A Command of NSCDC Lagos State held a community engagement programme on Tuesday, 10th February 2026, at the Agege Local Government Secretariat Hall. The engagement brought together key stakeholders from Agege, Agbado Oke-Odo, Ayobo-Ipaja, Ifako-Ijaye and Ojokoro to discuss strategies for protecting critical infrastructure within the Area Command.
The State Commandant, Mr. Adedotun Keshinro, who was represented by the Head of the Critical National Assets and Infrastructure Department, Deputy Commandant of Corps (DCC) Kolawole Agbetiloye, noted that the engagement could not have come at a better time. He commended stakeholders for collaborating with the Corps to curb the activities of economic saboteurs in the area. He also urged scrap dealers to strictly comply with the approved operational hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
In his goodwill message, the Executive Chairman of Agege Local Government Area, Hon. Abdulganiyu Vinod Obasa, praised the Lagos NSCDC Command for sustaining strong collaboration with his administration, particularly in regulating the activities of scrap dealers. He expressed optimism that the partnership has significantly reduced cases of vandalism of public assets in Agege and its environs. Similarly, the Executive Chairman of Agbado Oke-Odo LCDA, Hon. Jimoh Ishola Ejigbadero, represented by Hon. Oriade Saheed Ademola, urged residents to continue supporting the NSCDC in delivering on its core mandates.
During the interactive session, stakeholders discussed concerns surrounding the activities of scavengers, who were identified as major contributors to vandalism. The representative of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Assistant Director Mrs. Ani Chiamaka, called for stronger collaboration among all stakeholders to further reduce vandalism. Representatives of youth groups, security agencies, community associations, and the Scrap Dealers Employers Association of Nigeria also pledged their support. The Area Commander, Assistant Commandant of Corps Olusola Oni, alongside Divisional Officers under Area A Command, reiterated their determination to tackle vandalism and ensure offenders are brought to justice.
