Defence Minister, General Christopher Musa Reaffirms Military Resolve to Tackle Insecurity

Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa, on Thursday appeared on Arise Television where he spoke extensively on the nation’s security architecture, ongoing military reforms, and the Armed Forces’ commitment to safeguarding Nigeria’s sovereignty.
During the interview, General Musa reaffirmed the Federal Government’s resolve to confront terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and other emerging security threats across the country. He noted that recent operational gains recorded by the Armed Forces were the result of improved intelligence sharing, enhanced inter-agency cooperation, and renewed political support for the military.
The Defence Minister explained that the Armed Forces are undergoing critical reforms aimed at strengthening professionalism, boosting troop morale, and modernising equipment. According to him, welfare of personnel remains a top priority, stressing that a well-motivated soldier is central to winning the fight against insecurity.
General Musa also highlighted the importance of collaboration with other security agencies, state governments, and local communities, noting that security challenges cannot be solved by the military alone. He said community engagement and timely intelligence from citizens are increasingly shaping successful operations nationwide.
On regional security, the Defence Minister spoke on Nigeria’s cooperation with neighbouring countries, describing cross-border collaboration as essential in tackling transnational crimes and insurgency within the sub-region.
He further paid tribute to fallen officers and men of the Armed Forces, emphasizing that their sacrifices continue to inspire ongoing efforts to secure peace and stability. He assured Nigerians that the military remains firmly committed to defending democracy, national unity, and the territorial integrity of the country.
General Musa concluded by urging citizens to maintain confidence in the Armed Forces and support national security initiatives, assuring that the government will continue to invest in capacity building and strategic reforms to ensure lasting peace across Nigeria.
