NSCDC Chief Commends Odumosu, Applauds Major Infrastructure Upgrades at FCT Command

The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, has praised the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command for its remarkable infrastructural development and innovative initiatives under the leadership of its Commandant, Dr. Olusola Odumosu.

Prof. Audi gave the commendation during an inspection of the newly established Obstacle Course Training Centre at the FCT Command. The visit formed part of his 2026 operational tour aimed at assessing the level of preparedness and infrastructure across NSCDC commands nationwide.

He described the visible transformation of the FCT Command as a product of commitment, dedication, and effective leadership, noting that the progress recorded under Commandant Odumosu justified his reputation and professional pedigree.

“What you have achieved here is truly commendable. You cannot give what you do not have. I am proud of your accomplishments as the FCT Commandant, and you have represented the Corps very well,” Prof. Audi stated.

The Commandant General added that, as the host command of the NSCDC National Headquarters, the FCT Command has set a benchmark for others to follow across the federation.

“What you have demonstrated within this short period of assuming office shows that you still have much to offer the Corps,” he added.

Prof. Audi further described the FCT Command as a centre of innovation, stressing that its personnel rank among the most valuable officers in the service, deliberately pursuing initiatives capable of advancing the NSCDC.

“Even the blind can see that the Civil Defence of yesterday is not the same as the Civil Defence of today,” he remarked.

During the visit, the NSCDC boss charged officers and men of the command to remain disciplined and committed to the Corps’ guiding principles. He warned against indolence and misconduct, urging personnel to always place the interest of the service above personal considerations and to initiate projects that can be replicated in other commands.

He also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for approving long-overdue promotions of officers, describing the move as a morale booster that has further strengthened the Corps in line with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope agenda.

Looking ahead, Prof. Audi disclosed plans by the National Headquarters to establish a modern College of Arms Squad Service in Nasarawa State. He noted that the design of the FCT Command’s obstacle course would be adopted for wider training purposes and assured the command of continued headquarters’ support to ensure timely completion of its projects.

The visit concluded with a tactical demonstration by trained personnel at the obstacle course, highlighting the physical fitness, professionalism, and operational readiness of the FCT Command.

The development was contained in a statement signed by the National Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC, Assistant Commandant of Corps (ACC) Afolabi Babawale, at the National Headquarters in Abuja.
