COAS VISITS 18 BRIGADE, PLEDGES ENHANCED WELFARE FOR TROOPS


The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has assured officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army of improved welfare packages aimed at boosting morale and enhancing operational efficiency.
General Shaibu gave the assurance on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, while addressing troops of 18 Brigade at Latini Barracks, Bida, Niger State. He reaffirmed that under his leadership, the Nigerian Army remains firmly committed to prioritising the welfare of personnel and their families as a key driver of sustained operational success.
He stated that troop welfare continues to receive focused and sustained attention, while commending the officers and soldiers for their dedication and commitment to maintaining relative peace within their Area of Responsibility. The army chief urged them to remain steadfast in their efforts to degrade and neutralise bandits and terrorists, in order to restore public confidence and strengthen security.
The COAS also revealed plans to construct additional accommodation facilities and establish skills acquisition centres, aimed at improving the overall well-being and economic empowerment of troops’ families.
