The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has sharply criticized President Bola Tinubu’s administration following U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) airstrikes in Sokoto State, accusing the government of abdication of duty and compromising national sovereignty.
In a statement released via X on Friday, ADC Spokesperson Bolaji Abdullahi argued that the President has “outsourced his most important constitutional responsibility.” The party questioned the transparency of the operation, noting that Nigerians first learned of the Christmas Day strikes on ISIS-linked positions through a social media post by the U.S. President rather than their own Commander-in-Chief.
While acknowledging the necessity of defeating terrorism, the ADC labeled the reliance on foreign military intervention as a symptom of “historic incompetence.” The party further demanded that the federal government provide a comprehensive report on the strike’s outcomes, including a verified count of casualties.
