The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Nasarawa State Command, under the leadership of Commandant Brah Samson Umoru, has arrested 47 suspected foreign nationals in Mararaba, Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
The suspects, made up of 32 males and 15 females, claimed to be citizens of Mali. They were apprehended in a residential building located at the Kudnawi II area of Orange Market, Mararaba.
The arrest followed a credible tip-off received by the Command regarding the presence of suspected foreign nationals residing within the area. Acting promptly, the NSCDC launched an investigation which led to the arrest of the individuals. During preliminary interrogation, the suspects confessed that they entered Nigeria through Ghana and had been living in the area for nearly one month. They also claimed to be engaged in a network marketing business known as Qnet.
The operation was carried out in collaboration with the Nigeria Forest Security Service, local vigilante groups, community leaders, and market associations, whose support contributed to the successful arrest and transfer of the suspects.
The arrested individuals were first handed over to the Department of State Services and were subsequently transferred to the Nigeria Immigration Service for proper profiling and further necessary action.
The NSCDC remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of lives and property in Nasarawa State and will continue to work closely with other security agencies to address issues relating to unauthorized activities by foreign nationals.
