NSCDC Arrests Two Suspects Over Telecommunications Vandalism in Osun

The Osun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested two suspects in connection with the vandalism of telecommunications facilities and equipment at Eripa and Otan Ayegbaju communities in Osun State.

The State Commandant, Igbalawole Sotiyo, disclosed that on December 1, 2025, engineers from IHS Telecommunications Company, during an on-the-spot assessment of the affected sites, discovered that the backup batteries installed at the facilities had been stolen.

Commandant Sotiyo explained that the incident was formally reported to the Command on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, prompting swift operational action by NSCDC operatives, which led to the arrest of two suspects.

The arrested suspects were identified as Arisekola, a 35-year-old commercial driver, and Alhaji Adedokun, a 50-year-old scrap dealer. Both suspects reportedly confessed to their involvement in the crime, while two other accomplices are currently at large.

In his confessional statement, Arisekola, a resident of Iree, Osun State, stated that he was contacted to transport the vandalised batteries to Alhaji Adedokun, a scrap dealer based in Ikirun.

Alhaji Adedokun also confessed to purchasing a total of fourteen (14) pieces of backup batteries vandalised from the two telecommunications sites.

Commandant Sotiyo assured members of the public that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects and ensure they are brought to justice.

He reaffirmed the Command’s unwavering commitment to the protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure, as well as the safety and security of lives and property across Osun State.
