In a strategic move to strengthen institutional leadership and ensure long-term operational efficiency, the Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service (FFS), Olumode Samuel Adeyemi, FCNA, ACTI, has launched a five-day Executive Leadership Training Programme for senior and mid-level officers of the Service.
The programme, themed “Enhancing Strategic Leadership, Operational Excellence, and Public Safety in the Federal Fire Service,” commenced on Monday at the Belmont Hotel, Wuye, Abuja, and marks a significant step toward building a sustainable leadership pipeline within the organisation.
Unlike previous capacity-building initiatives that focused mainly on top management, this training deliberately includes middle-cadre officers, recognising their critical role as the next generation of operational leaders and policy drivers. The initiative underscores a proactive approach to succession planning, institutional continuity, and improved service delivery.
The training is being organised by the Federal Fire Service in partnership with Titans Holdings Limited and the Pan-African Leadership and Management Institute, as part of ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening professionalism, leadership competence, and ethical standards across the Service.
Participants drawn from various commands nationwide are being equipped with practical leadership tools and strategic management skills required for higher responsibilities. Key modules include strategic leadership, organisational transformation, ethics and professional conduct, governance, policy development, and future readiness.
The programme also aligns with the Performance Bond signed between agencies under the Ministry of Interior and the Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, which prioritises capacity building, institutional strengthening, leadership development, and improved public service delivery.
By extending structured leadership training to both senior and middle-level officers, the Controller-General has reaffirmed the Federal Fire Service’s commitment to meeting performance benchmarks while preparing emerging leaders to effectively uphold the Service’s core mandate of protecting lives, property, and critical national assets.
