The Controller General of the Federal Fire Service (FFS), Samuel Adeyemi Olumode, has been awarded the “2025 Distinguished Honour for Fire Service Reform and Modernization” by the People’s Security Monitor. The recognition highlights his visionary leadership, transformative reforms, and steadfast commitment to positioning the Federal Fire Service as a modern, proactive, and world-class emergency response institution.
The award was presented to the Controller General during the 2025 Annual Security Summit and Recognition Awards held at Merit House, Abuja. The event convened leading stakeholders from Nigeria’s security and safety sectors for strategic discussions aimed at enhancing the country’s security architecture.
As the Special Guest Speaker, CG Olumode delivered a keynote address titled “Institutional Renewal for the Federal Fire Service: A Blueprint for Effective Response.” He underscored the need for stronger inter-agency cooperation, higher public safety standards, and sustained modernization efforts to build an efficient and resilient emergency response system.
Senior defence representatives and prominent figures from the national security community were also present. They emphasized the importance of technology-driven solutions, improved intelligence collaboration, and increased civic participation as essential components of national security.
In his remarks, the Controller General expressed deep appreciation to the President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his continual support to the Federal Fire Service. He also acknowledged the Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, whose leadership and policy direction have been instrumental in advancing safety reforms and propelling the Service’s modernization agenda.
CG Olumode further thanked the People’s Security Monitor for the recognition and reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to strengthening workforce capacity and expanding community-driven fire safety initiatives across the country.
