Armed Policemen Should Not Be Withdrawn From Expertriates – Security Expert, Jackson

…Says They Are Vulnerable to Kidnap

By Mike Odiakose, Abuja

A Security Expert, Dr Jackson Lekan Ojo has appealed to the federal government not to withdraw armed Policemen attached to expertriates in the country.

Reacting to the directive for the withdrawal of high-profile individuals, Dr Ojo declared that expertriates in the country will be exposed to a lot of risks, including armed robbery and kidnap if the policemen attached to them are Withdrawn.

“The directive to withdraw Police orderlies should be limited to politicians. Let it not affect expertriates because by the time it affects expertriates they will be more vulnerable to kidnap which will not sound for this country.

“Definitely, some of their countries will see it as assault against their citizens in Nigeria.”

Dr Jackson Ojo stressed that if the expertriates are Withdrawn from Nigeria it will have negative consequences for the Nigeria.

On the ban on open grazing of cattle across the country by the government, Dr Jackson Ojo commended the move and advised President Bola Tinubu should make the pronouncement after due consultation with State Governors.

“Mr President cannot override any governor. This is not what Mr President can just sit down in Aso Rock Villa to make the pronouncement. The pronouncement may not be effective.

“Mr President needs to withdraw down with the governors and they will now agree.

“The governor of Rivers State has powers to accommodate anyone he wants to accommodate just like any other governor.

“So, Mr President cannot singlehandedly stand up and say ‘I have banned open grazing in Nigeria. He does not have that power. He can do that in the Federal Capital Territory but not in any other state of the Federation.”
