The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, Lagos State Command, has called on youths to resist social disorder and vandalism.

In a statement made available to our correspondent, the Deputy Commandant of the Corps, Dapo Fasae, made the appeal at the Lagos State Youths’ Multi-Stakeholders Summit on Crime Reduction and Prevention in Lagos on Saturday.

Stressing the importance of involving youths in community activities, Dapo added that providing mentorship opportunities and developing leadership skills will foster a sense of responsibility and commitment to societal well-being amongst youths in the country.

“By involving youths in community activities and providing them with mentors, they can develop a sense of responsibility and leadership. Economic empowerment and support were also identified as crucial elements in preventing youths from engaging in criminal activities.”

He noted that youths should be equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to resist harmful influences and make informed choices.

Also, the Chief Executive Officer of Target Search Global Nigeria/United Kingdom, Oluwafemi Olatunji, urged stakeholders to create opportunities for youths to gain employment and start businesses, thereby reducing the economic pressures that often lead to criminal behaviour.
