COMMANDANT UMORU PAYS UNSCHEDULED VISIT TO NSUBEB CHAIRMAN

The State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nasarawa State Command, Commandant Brah Samson Umoru, on Tuesday paid an unscheduled working visit to the Executive Chairman of the Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board (NSUBEB), Hon. Kasim Muhammed Kasim, at the Board’s headquarters in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital.

The visit forms part of the Commandant’s ongoing engagement with key stakeholders aimed at strengthening institutional collaboration, improving security within learning environments, and enhancing efforts to safeguard vulnerable children and critical school infrastructure.

In his remarks, Commandant Brah Samson Umoru expressed appreciation to the Executive Chairman for the warm reception and described NSUBEB as a crucial partner in advancing the Safe Schools Programme. He reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to supporting the Board in ensuring a safe and conducive learning atmosphere across all basic education centres in the state.

He further highlighted the increasing need to protect pupils, teachers, and educational assets through improved cooperation, intelligence sharing, and proactive security measures. The Commandant assured that the NSCDC would continue to deploy its personnel and expertise to prevent threats and maintain peace within school communities.

Responding, Hon. Kasim Muhammed Kasim commended the NSCDC for its professionalism, dedication, and strong presence in schools across the state. He expressed the Board’s readiness to deepen its partnership with the Corps, particularly in school safety training, community sensitisation, and emergency response initiatives.

He emphasized that the safety of pupils and teachers remains a top priority for NSUBEB and reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to supporting security agencies in delivering on their mandates.

The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment by both institutions to work more closely toward strengthening school security architecture and ensuring uninterrupted teaching and learning across Nasarawa State.
