COAS in Kebbi, Directs Troops to Intensify Search for Abducted Schoolgirls

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has ordered troops under Operation FANSAN YANMA to step up efforts to secure the release of students abducted from Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School (GGCSS) Maga in Danko/Wasagu LGA, Kebbi State. He gave the directive on Monday, 17 November 2025, during an operational visit to the state.

While addressing frontline commanders and soldiers, General Shaibu urged them to pursue intelligence-led operations and sustain continuous, round-the-clock pressure on the abductors. “We must find these children. Act decisively and professionally on every piece of intelligence. Failure is not an option,” he said.

The COAS also met with local vigilantes and hunters, acknowledging them as vital partners in the mission. He encouraged them to work closely with the military and use their deep knowledge of the terrain to help track down and dismantle criminal groups. “Together, we will restore peace and ensure our children can go to school without fear,” he affirmed.

Earlier in the visit, General Shaibu paid condolence calls on the Traditional Ruler of Danko, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Allaje, and the Principal of GGCSS Maga, Hajiya Rabi Musa Magaji, assuring them of the Army’s firm commitment to rescuing the students safely.

He further urged the troops to remain determined and professional, emphasizing strict adherence to the rules of engagement while staying vigilant, disciplined, and resolute in restoring peace to Kebbi State and its environs.
