Kaduna Police Rescue 17 Children, Arrest Suspected Traffickers in Zaria

Kaduna State Police operatives have successfully rescued 17 children and arrested three suspected traffickers in the Zaria area, authorities confirmed on Thursday.

The Command’s spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, said the suspects were intercepted on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, following credible intelligence on the suspicious movement of children near the Danmagaji Flyover in Zaria.

“Detectives from the Danmagaji Division acted swiftly and rescued 17 children who were allegedly being prepared for trafficking to Abuja and other parts of the country and beyond,” DSP Hassan explained.

Those arrested in connection with the operation include Musa Shuaibu, 21, from Funtua, Katsina State; Sani Mamman, 23, from Ingawa, Katsina State; and Mubarak Ismail, 20, from Unguwa Uku, Kano State.

“During interrogation, the suspects confessed to bringing the children from various locations and attempting to transport them to Abuja and beyond before they were apprehended,” Hassan added.

The rescued children, all minors, are reported to be in good health and are currently under the protection of the police while efforts continue to reunite them with their families.

Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, commended the operatives for their swift action, emphasizing the Command’s zero tolerance for child trafficking and exploitation. He also warned parents and guardians to be vigilant against individuals or groups offering false promises of better opportunities for children in urban centers.

“The suspects will face thorough investigation and prosecution upon completion of inquiries,” CP Muhammad stated.

The police have further urged community members to remain alert and report any suspicious activities or individuals to the nearest police station for prompt intervention.
