Commandant Igbo Hosts Delta State House of Assembly Committee on Peace and Security, Calls for Greater Inclusion of NSCDC in State Security Affairs

The Delta State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Commandant Chinedu Igbo, has hosted the Chairman and members of the Delta State House of Assembly Committee on Peace and Security at the State Command Headquarters in Asaba.

The delegation, led by the Committee Chairman, Hon. Anwuzia Isaac Ozor, expressed delight that the visit was finally held after several reschedulings. Hon. Anwuzia commended the Commandant for the warm reception and lauded the NSCDC for its vital contributions to peace, law enforcement, and the protection of critical national assets across Delta State.

Speaking further, the Committee Chairman emphasized the significance of the Corps’ role following the passage of a new bill mandating coordination among local security outfits and other security agencies in the state. He urged the Commandant to pay particular attention to the ongoing security challenges in the Warri axis and to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to find lasting solutions.

In his response, Commandant Igbo expressed appreciation for the lawmakers’ visit and outlined the statutory responsibilities of the NSCDC. He highlighted that the training and supervision of the newly established local security outfits, as provided in the new law, fall squarely under the Corps’ mandate.

Commandant Igbo further appealed for greater inclusion and institutional support from the State Assembly, stressing that proper integration of the NSCDC in state security initiatives would enhance its capacity to fulfill its duties effectively.
