The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, confirming that the suspects were arrested during a special operation conducted by operatives of the Command’s Special Intervention Squad on Thursday, 16th October 2025, around 1:00 p.m.

According to Haruna, the suspects—identified as Aliyu Abbas (35), Sani Iliyasu (47), Ashiru Sule (41), Abubakar Yahaya (45), and Adamu Kalilu (45) were caught in possession of incriminating items, including a fake police warrant card, handcuffs, 2,500 CFA, and mutilated naira notes of various denominations. Their operational vehicle, a blue Peugeot 406 with registration number NSR-188-BD, was also seized.

During interrogation, the suspects confessed to several acts of impersonation and extortion, admitting to using the fake police warrant card to defraud innocent citizens in Kano, Katsina, and Kaduna States.

SP Haruna further stated that the suspects would be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.

The statement also recalled that in September, the Command arrested another impostor who posed as a police officer to extort members of the public.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, has urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station, reaffirming the Command’s commitment to maintaining law and order while ensuring that criminal impersonators face the full wrath of the law.
