The Federal Fire Service, Bauchi Zonal Command, officially welcomed its new Zonal Controller, Controller of Fire (CF) Usman Yakmut, on Wednesday, 15th October, 2025, as he formally assumed duty at the Command Headquarters, Bauchi.
CF Yakmut was warmly received by the Acting State Controller, Federal Fire Service, Bauchi, Assistant Controller of Fire (ACF) Babangida Mallam Abba, alongside other senior officers of the Command. A brief handover and interaction session took place, after which the Zonal Controller inspected offices, firefighting vehicles, operational equipment, and other key facilities within the Command.
In his inaugural address, CF Yakmut reaffirmed his commitment to the core mandate of the Federal Fire Service—protecting lives and property through effective fire prevention, suppression, and public safety education. He emphasized discipline, teamwork, and continuous capacity building among officers and men, assuring that personnel welfare and professional development would remain top priorities across the Zone.
He further stressed that zero tolerance would be enforced for misconduct, including absenteeism, lack of punctuality, and insubordination.
During his tour, CF Yakmut also visited the adjoining section where the Bauchi State Fire Service operates. He was received by Mr. Sale Abdullahi, Head of Fire Prevention, who briefed him on the State Fire Service’s activities and ongoing collaboration with the Federal Fire Service.
The event concluded with a group photograph of the Zonal Controller and senior officers, symbolizing a renewed commitment to excellence, cooperation, and dedicated service at the Bauchi Zonal Command.
