COAS COMMISSIONS 16 UNIT OFFICERS TRANSIT ACCOMMODATION AT DALET BARRACKS KADUNA

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja NAM, represented by the General Officer Commanding 1 Division Nigerian Army and Commander Operation Whirl Punch, Major General Lander David Saraso has commissioned the newly constructed 16-unit transit accommodation at Dalet Barracks, Kawo, Kaduna on 12 July 2024.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Major General Saraso emphasized that the project is in line with the COAS Command Philosophy, focusing on improving the welfare of the troops and ensuring adequate accommodation. He highlighted the importance of ensuring adequate maintenance of the facility and reiterated the COAS’s efforts in addressing accommodation issues in Kaduna, adding that this commissioning makes it 7th Transit Accommodation built, significantly to alleviate the challenges of inadequacy accommodation for officers.

He enjoyed the beneficiaries to ensure proper maintenance noting that significant resources had been invested in the accommodation. He also charged the Chief of Staff 1 Division NA and Deputy Chief of Staff Logistics to ensure that the allocation of rooms is tied to specific command or staff appointments. Keys were symbolically presented to the beneficiaries of the new accommodation.

Earlier, the representative of Commander 41 Engineers Brigade, Lieutenant Colonel II Zubairu gave a brief overview of the project. He said the contract for the construction was awarded to Messrs Y-Tek Ltd, while the contract for furnishing was awarded to Messrs Zohn Global Ltd. The facility is a boxed-shaped, two-story building with eight apartments on each floor. The construction work was completed to acceptable standards in June 2023, and the furnishing was completed in January 2024 he said

Highlights of the event were a vote of thanks by one of the beneficiaries, symbolic presentation of keys to beneficiaries, cutting of the commissioning tape, unveiling of commissioning plague and group photographs.
