OPERATION HADIN KAI HANDS OVER RESCUED CIVILIANS TO BORNO GOVERNMENT

In a remarkable feat, the Headquarters Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) today 11 July 2024, handed over 277 rescued civilians, including 149 children and 128 women, to the Borno State Government in Maimalari Cantonment, Maiduguri. The milestone achievement demonstrates the unwavering commitment of the Joint Task Force (JTF) OPHK to restoring peace and normalcy in the North East region.

The Theatre Commander, Major General Waidi Shaibu, represented by Major General Kenneth Chigbu, while handing over, emphasized the synergy between OPHK, security agencies, and stakeholders in achieving this success. He praised the collaboration with the State Government, local and international NGOs, stressing that the feat showcased  professionalism and adherence to international best practices.

The Theatre Commander added that the rescued civilians, freed from Bama, Dikwa, and Monguno, received medical checks upon arrival, to ascertain their medical conditions. 

General Shaibu appreciated the Governor of Borno State and stakeholders for their support, urging terrorists to surrender for peace to reign or face the troops’ offensive.

In her remarks, the Director Social Welfare Ministry of Women Affairs,Hajiya Aishatu Shetima, representing the Commissioner for Women Affairs, expressed gratitude to the military and assured that the rescued women and children would receive social and humanitarian support at the Bulumkutu interim center before re-integration with their communities.

Highlights of the event were the symbolic handover and a group photograph, marking a significant step towards restoring hope and stability in the region.
