The Katsina State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has witnessed a change of leadership following the official takeover of command by Commandant Abbas Dan-Ile Moriki on Monday, 22nd September, 2025.
At a brief but symbolic ceremony, Moriki formally succeeded Commandant of Corps Aminu Datti Ahmad, fsf, MADM, FCAI. The event featured the handing over of the flag and official documents.
In his remarks, the outgoing Commandant expressed gratitude to Almighty God for a successful tenure and thanked officers and men of the Command for their unwavering support. He urged them to extend the same loyalty and cooperation to his successor.
In his acceptance speech, Commandant Moriki reaffirmed the leadership vision of the NSCDC Commandant General, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, in safeguarding critical national assets and infrastructure. He assured the Executive Governor of Katsina State, Mallam Dikko Umaru Radda, PhD, CON, and the people of the state of his commitment to adopting effective security strategies to protect lives and property.
Born in Moriki, Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State, Moriki began his education at Umaru Danjeka Model Primary School, Moriki, before proceeding to Government Secondary School, Koko, Kebbi State. He later earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto in 1995, followed by a Master’s degree in Economics from the same institution in 2001.
A seasoned security professional, Moriki is a member of several recognized institutes, including the Chartered Institute of Taxation and the Nigerian Institute of Management. Over the years, he has served in various NSCDC formations, including the Anti-Vandal Unit in Kano State, the Administration Department in Sokoto State, and as Second-in-Command in Zamfara and Jigawa States. He also served as Commandant of Administration at the NSCDC Zone 2 Headquarters in Kaduna.
He has undergone several professional trainings, including courses on intelligence and investigation, counter-terrorism, counter-insurgency, special mine surveillance, civilian protection, as well as disarmament, demobilization and reintegration at the Nigerian Army Peacekeeping Centre in Jaji, Kaduna.
Commandant Abbas Dan-Ile Moriki is married and blessed with children. In his leisure time, he enjoys counseling and traveling.
