The Gombe State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening community partnerships as part of ongoing efforts to ensure peace, security, and humanitarian support in the state.
This was emphasized during two separate courtesy visits to the State Commandant, CC Jibrin Idris, by the Jama’atu Hadaratul Islamiyya (Islamic Teachers’ Association) and the Yelmee Humanitarian and Development Initiatives (YHADI) at the NSCDC State Headquarters.
Leading the delegation from Jama’atu Hadaratul Islamiyya, Alhaji Muhammad Nuhu, the association’s Chairman, commended the NSCDC’s role in maintaining peace and security across the state. He applauded the leadership of Commandant Idris and encouraged the Corps to continue upholding the confidence reposed in it by citizens.
In his response, Commandant Idris acknowledged the pivotal role of teachers in education and moral upbringing. He emphasized the Corps’ appreciation for institutions that promote positive values and community development.
During the visit by Mr. Emmanuel Ezekiel Shekari, Executive Director of YHADI, discussions centered on strengthening collaboration in humanitarian response and development initiatives. Mr. Shekari highlighted YHADI’s interest in partnering with the NSCDC to better serve vulnerable populations in the state.
Commandant Idris noted NSCDC’s key responsibilities in disaster response and public protection. He pledged the Command’s support for humanitarian initiatives and called for regular intelligence sharing to help safeguard critical infrastructure and prevent acts of vandalism.
The Commandant urged both organizations to continue supporting peace-building efforts through collaboration, community engagement, and timely provision of actionable intelligence.
