The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Katsina State Command, has intercepted a consignment of Insecticide-Treated Nets (ITNs) allegedly being diverted from Matazu Local Government Area to Kano State.
The Command’s special surveillance team, during a recent operation, stopped a Ford pick-up truck with registration number BDG 212 YE, carrying 35 bags of ITNs, each containing 50 nets. The items, originally meant for distribution to households in Matazu LGA during the last campaign, were diverted en route to Kano.
The driver was immediately apprehended, and the vehicle was taken to the Command Headquarters for further investigation. During interrogation, the driver claimed he had been contracted at Charanchi market to convey “property” from Matazu to Kano, only to later discover the consignment contained ITNs. Four other suspects connected to the diversion are currently at large.
The Katsina State Commandant assured residents that thorough investigations are ongoing and that due diligence will be applied in prosecuting those involved. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to uncovering the activities of vandals, economic saboteurs, and other criminal elements in the state.
Commandant Ahmad expressed appreciation to the general public for their continued cooperation and urged them to provide timely and credible intelligence to assist security agencies in their fight against criminality.
