NSCDC Special Intelligence Squad Foils Bandit Attacks, Farmers Begin Safe Return in Plateau State

In a major breakthrough against rural insecurity, the Special Intelligence Squad of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), acting on the directive of the Commandant General, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, has successfully foiled a series of bandit attacks in Nteng village, Deomak District, Qua’an-Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The operation, carried out in collaboration with the Nigerian Army and the Nigeria Police, was launched following a recent surge in attacks that had destabilized the local farming communities. Acting swiftly on intelligence, the joint team mounted a coordinated response to neutralize the threat and prevent further violence.

Commander of the CG’s Special Intelligence Squad, Commandant A.S. Dandaura, who led the operation, described the situation in the area as grievous and deplorable. He confirmed that the communities had endured repeated assaults from suspected bandits who targeted farmers, disrupted livelihoods, and destroyed essential infrastructure.

“In response to the marching order of the Commandant General, we set up an intelligence-driven operational mechanism to forestall the incessant attacks against Nteng village,” Dandaura stated. He further explained that the terrain—mountainous, swampy, and without access roads—had given the attackers an advantage and delayed emergency response from security operatives.

The attacks led to significant humanitarian and economic losses. Several lives were lost, and farmland, including crops ready for harvest, was maliciously destroyed. The Primary Health Care Hospital in the area was
