CIVIL DEFENCE OFFICERS WIVES ASSOCIATION (CDOWA) COMMISSIONER OF WORKS, HOUSING AND TRANSPORT.

It was indeed a warm welcome given to Civil Defence Officers Wives Association (Cdowa ),Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps(NSCDC)
Gombe State Chapter when the GWD Delegation led by the wife of the State Commandant Hajiya Abdulmumin Muntaz who is also the Chairperson Cdowa paid a courtesy Visit to the Honourable Commissioner of Works, Housing and Transport Egnr(Dr) Usman Maijamaa Kallamu(Garkuwan Daban Fulani).The Association Desk officer Deputy Superintendent of Corps(DSC) Dorcas Dogara introduced the Association to the Honourable Commissioner and stated the reasons why it was created which is aimed at improving the welfare of it’s members,she went ahead to introduced the Wife of the State Commandant, Association’s Chairperson who presented a memoradom on the Gallant Women Drivers Initiative (GWD) Program , which is a strategic women empowerment program designed to increase female participation in the professional driving sector while contributing to safer transportation and stronger community networks.She further stated that women are underrepresented but valuable resource in the transport industry and demonstrate strong compliance with traffic regulations, lower rate of impaired driving and high sense of responsibility towards passengers.
In his response,the hon Commissioner,Egnr(Dr) Usman Maijamaa Kallamu was highly impressed with the visit and the GWD Initiative which is one of its kind in the State if being implemented,he encourage the Association to work hard so that it will come to reality,he promised to support the initiative through his Director of Transport Mr Yakubu Gaius who pledged to follow up the proposal.There are about 9 directorates under the Ministry and all the Directors were present during the visit and also a Permanent Secretary Mallam Danladi Adamu.
The meeting came to a conclusion with a group photograph session making a remarkable step towards fostering collaboration between Cdowa and the Ministry of Works Housing and Transport.
