In a bid to foster collaboration and promote women’s empowerment, the Civil Defence Officers Wives Association (CDOWA), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Gombe State Command Chapter, paid a courtesy visit to the Honourable Commissioner of Women Affairs, Hajiya Asma’u Iganus.
The delegation, led by the Chairperson, CDOWA Gombe State Command Chapter, Hajiya Hauwa Abdulmumin Muntaz, was warmly received by the Commissioner. The Desk Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Corps (DSC) Dorcas Dogara, introduced the delegation and outlined the purpose of the visit.
DSC Dogara highlighted the upcoming Gallant Women Drivers (GWD) team training initiative, designed to empower women through driving and security diplomacy. She emphasized the importance of this program in enhancing women’s skills and confidence, particularly in the areas of transportation and security.
In her response, The Hon Commissioner, Hajiya Asma’u Iganus, expressed her enthusiasm for the initiative, noting that it aligns with the state’s goals for women’s empowerment. She promised to provide full support and pledged to connect the team with relevant stakeholders who can offer sponsorship and guidance.
The Commissioner also encouraged the team to take the journey seriously, emphasizing that the program would be a game-changer for women and the entire state. She noted that the initiative would not only enhance women’s driving skills but also promote security awareness and diplomacy.
The meeting concluded with a group photograph session, marking a significant step towards fostering collaboration between CDOWA and the Ministry of Women Affairs.
The Civil Defence Officers Wives Association (CDOWA) remains committed to promoting women’s empowerment and security awareness in Gombe State. With the support of the Ministry of Women Affairs, the organization is poised to make a meaningful impact in the lives of women and girls across the state.
