THE ARREST AND DEATH OF SALISU MOHAMMED (M), AGED 45, OF SHUWARIN TOWN – KIYAWA LGA, JIGAWA STATE

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Jigawa State Command, wishes to inform the general public about the arrest and subsequent death of one Salisu Mohammed (m), aged 45, of Shuwarin Town, Kiyawa Local Government Area.

Sequel to the gruesome murder of Late Bashir Adamu Jibrin, an officer of the Corps attached to the Jigawa State Command, which occurred on the 4th of August, 2025 at Shuwarin Market during the execution of a lawful arrest, the Command received credible information implicating Salisu Mohammed as one of the active participants in the inhumane act. Investigations revealed that he struck the deceased officer on the head with a stone, contributing to his death.

In view of this, operatives of the Corps successfully apprehended the suspect on the 7th of August, 2025 at Shuwarin Town. However, while being transported to the State Command Headquarters at high speed, the suspect miraculously freed himself from the handcuffs and jumped out of the moving vehicle in an attempt to escape lawful custody.

He sustained severe injuries and was rushed to Dutse General Hospital for medical attention, where he was confirmed dead. Following insistence from his relatives, the corpse was transferred to Sambo Hospital Limited, Dutse, for examination. A medical report indicating the cause of death was issued and marked as an exhibit.

The NSCDC Jigawa State Command remains committed to ensuring justice for the late officer and will continue to work tirelessly to uphold law and order across the state.
