Nigerian Navy Renovates Delta School, Deepens Community Ties

In a clear demonstration of its commitment to strengthening civil-military relations, the Nigerian Navy has completed and commissioned a significant renovation project at Igue Primary School, located in Ime-Obi, Agbor, Delta State.

The project, which includes the reconstruction of key facilities such as perimeter fencing, a borehole for potable water, and a new security gatehouse, was executed under the Navy’s Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) framework. These upgrades aim to create a more secure and conducive learning environment for the pupils.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, represented by Rear Admiral Oluwole Fadeyi reaffirmed the Navy’s resolve to support grassroots development in line with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“This initiative forms part of the Chief of the Naval Staff Special Intervention Quick Impact Project (CNS-QIP), which is focused on building trust and mutual cooperation between the military and local communities across the country,” he explained.

Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ogboi Nmoyem, a native of Agbor and the facilitator of the project, was applauded for his role in making the intervention possible. The Navy leadership described his contribution as a symbolic gesture of giving back to his roots and supporting national development from the grassroots level.

Vice Admiral Ogalla noted that such efforts go beyond mere infrastructure; they represent a strategic effort to bridge the gap between the military and civilians through meaningful engagement.

In his remarks, Rear Admiral Nmoyem expressed deep appreciation for the opportunity to lead the project, crediting the vision of the Chief of Naval Staff for prioritizing community welfare. “This project is a reflection of the Navy’s broader commitment to community development, and I hope it will significantly enhance the quality of education for the pupils of Igue Primary School,” he said.

The event drew praise and attendance from local leaders, including the Dein of Agbor Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Dr. Benjamin Ikenchuku Keagborekuzi I, and the Chairman of Ika South Local Government Area, Hon. Jerry Ehiwariyo. Both commended the Navy for its developmental initiatives and urged continued collaboration between the armed forces and local communities.
