As part of the nationwide celebrations marking the 2025 Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL), the Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, has commended the unwavering dedication, professionalism, and sacrifices of troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army. The Governor made this known during the NADCEL Interdenominational Church Service held on 29 June 2025 at Salvation Baptist Church, Jalingo.
While addressing troops, dignitaries, and the Christian faithful in attendance, the Governor himself a retired military officer, reaffirmed his unflinching support for the Nigerian Army, describing it as his “first constituency.” He lauded the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Olatunbosun Oluyede , for his visionary leadership despite the enormous security challenges facing the country, and proudly declared, “I am very proud of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army.”
Governor Kefas emphasized that the strength of the military lies in the well-being, loyalty, and spiritual devotion of its personnel. He charged officers and soldiers to remain committed not only to the Nigerian Army but also to God and constituted authority, noting that “our loyalty and dedication to God is our greatest strength.” He assured the Brigade of continued support from the state government and offered prayers for both serving and retired personnel.
Earlier In his remarks, the Commander 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, highlighted the theme for this year’s celebration: “Developing the Soldier First Concept: Imperative for Nigerian Army Transformation Drive.” He praised his troops for their discipline, resilience, and operational successes, attributing much of their achievements to the support of the Taraba State Government and the goodwill of traditional institutions and citizens. He also extended special appreciation to the wives of military personnel for their strength in keeping the home front.
Delivering the sermon, the Assistant Director, 6 Brigade Chaplain (Protestant), Major Reverend S. Samaila, spoke on the theme “The Loyalty of a Soldier as Catalyst to Transformation.” He urged personnel to remain loyal, disciplined, and spiritually steadfast, adding that true transformation in the military begins with inner dedication to duty and to God.
