AHQ GARRISON CONCLUDES 2025 INTER-FORMATION WOs AND SNCOS COMPETITION

The Army Headquarters (AHQ) Garrison, today 20 June 2025, successfully concluded the 2025 Inter-formation Warrant Officers (WOs) and Senior Non-commissioned Officers (SNCOs) Competition. The event which brought about participants from different formations and units under AHQ Garrison was held at the 7 Guards Battalion Obstacle Crossing Ground, Abuja.

Delivering his remarks during the event, the Commander AHQ Garrison, Major General Maxwell Dangana expressed satisfaction with the successful conduct of the event and high level of discipline, commitment and professionalism exhibited by all participants.

Maj Gen Dangana emphasized that the competition was not just about winning, but rather to enhance the physical fitness, mental resilience, tactical skills, and leadership capabilities of the SNCO Cadre. He added that the activities mirror battlefield scenarios and are essential in preparing troops to remain mission ready at all times.

He further commended them for their team work and regimental conduct through out the competition. He reiterated that SNCO cadre remains the backbone of the military force, serving as a link between officers and soldiers and ensuring the sustenance of high standards, discipline, and morale across units.

As part of efforts to encourage and uplift the moral of troops, the Chief of Staff AHQ Garrison, Brig Gen Peter Elayo joined the troops on the field by scaling one of the obstacles during the competition.

Earlier giving the welcome address, the Garrison Training Officer, Brigadier General Ndareke Orok who was represented by Lieutenant Colonel Usman Adamu acknowledged the high level of professionalism and team work demonstrated by all participating formations. He stated that the competition was a deliberate effort to reinforce the importance of constant training and discipline as a key for operational effectiveness.

He enjoined all participants to take all the lessons learned back to their units and continue to exemplify the standards expected of Senior Non-commissioned Officers in the Nigerian Army.

Highlight of the events included presentation of awards to outstanding participants and presentation of souvenirs.
