
State Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Benue State Command CC Alice Bitrus today alongside other security heads in Benue State received separately the Inspector General of Police IGP Kayode Egebetokun and General Christpher, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS).
The two Service Chiefs were on tactical operational visits and on the spots assessment of the heinous carnage melted out to armed less innocent civilians without any form of provocation by suspected marauding killer Herdsmen at Yelewata and Daudu in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State on 13th June, 2025 at Yelewata and Daudu in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.
The Inspector General of Police who expressed his deepest condolences to the Government and People of Benue State, asserted that this is one death too many.
” I am here to first and foremost commiserate with you and the good people of Benue State and to assure you that the Nigerian Police Force in cooperation, synergy and collaboration with other security agencies will pursue this criminal elements, and ensure they are brought to justice”.
The IGP assured every law abiding residents of Benue that the Nigerian Police Force has deployed more tactical operational units to increase the manpower on the ground, and solicited strong collaboration from the public in order to end the callous bloodbath going forward.
In like manner, the Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa who was categorical and emphatic that there is no justification whatsoever for the senseless killings across the State, assuring that the Nigerian military has the mandate and directives of Mr President Commander in chief of the Armed forces to end this madness forthwith.
The CDS emphasize that the Nigerian military has deployed measures elsewhere that yielded enormous results in the fight against insurgency and banditry, and believe such measures are going to work here in Benue State.
The Chief of Defence Staff said the Nigerian military is working discreetly to end the issue of misgivings and distrust between the locals and the army, and solicited for the cooperation of the general public to end the callous Killings across the nation and particularly in Benue State.
The service chiefs, the Governor and heads of security agencies in the state conducted on the spots assessment of the carnage sites at Yelewata, Guma Local Government Area.
The State Commandant who in the last couple of weeks has been working round the clocks and restructuring the operational deployment of the Command to effectively respond to this barbaric and man inhumanity to man, is determined to build on the gains of the visits and leverage on it benefits to end the killings across the State.
