Army Assures Public After Explosion Near Abuja Cantonment

The Nigerian Army has moved to reassure residents of the Federal Capital Territory following an explosion that occurred Monday morning near the Mogadishu Cantonment along the Abuja-Nyanya road.

The blast took place at a bus stop in front of the well-known military facility. Eyewitnesses reported that a suspected suicide bomber died in the explosion, which caused panic as bystanders and commuters fled the area in fear.

Responding via its official X (formerly Twitter) account, the Army confirmed the incident, stating:
“Explosion at Bus stop opposite Mogadishu Cantonment Abuja. Situation under control. Details later.”

The military emphasized that there was no cause for alarm, and the situation had been fully contained. Further updates are expected as investigations continue.
