Weapon Handling: No Excuse For Accidental Discharge, Plateau NDCDC Boss, Ishaku Musa Warns Armed Officers

Ishaku Musa, the Commandant of the Plateau State Command of the
Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has warned armed
officers to avoid unethical conduct and accidental discharge, stating
that the Command under his leadership will not entertain any excuses
for such incidents.

Commandant Musa issued the warning shortly after a muster parade at
the Command’s Headquarters in Jos, last week.

He urged armed officers to exercise a high level of caution while
handling weapons, emphasizing that any case of accidental discharge
would attract severe punishment in line with the law.

”All of you have been trained and retrained well enough to know how to
properly handle the weapons allotted to you, even in the face of
provocation.

The NSCDC is reputed to be a leading paramilitary agency in Nigeria,
with a modus operandi rooted in high discipline, ethical compliance,
and total loyalty to constituted authority. Anything short of these
values will not be tolerated from any personnel of the Corps.

By our mandate, we are duty-bound to protect the lives and property of
Nigerians, especially the critical infrastructure of the government,
and this must be carried out effectively. Therefore, accidental
discharge is an aberration in the NSCDC.

Under the leadership of Dr. Ahmed Audi, the NSCDC has done a lot to
earn the respect of Nigerians, and this momentum must be sustained at
all costs.” said Commandant Musa.
