NSCDC TO COLLABORATE WITH LIQUEFIED PETROLEUM GAS RETAILERS( LPGAR) TO CURB ILLEGAL PRACTICES

 

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Anambra State Command, has announced its intention to partner with the Liquefied Petroleum Gas Retailers Association (LPGAR) to improve safety in gas storage, sales and distribution.

Commandant Maku Olatunde made this known on Friday while playing host to Comrade Nwabueze Ihere, the Anambra State Chapter Chairman of Liquefied Petroleum Gas Retailers, LPGAR – NUPENG , at the NSCDC State Headquarters in Awka. 

Commandant Olatunde commended the association for the visit, stating that effective collaboration between the Corps and LPGAR would enhance the safety of Anambra Citizens. 

He assured the  State Chairman of Liquefied Petroleum Gas Retailers (LPGAR), branch of National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) of Command’s collaboration and partnership  for improved safety in their operations.

The State Commandant called the attention of LPG retailers to the importance of taking safety precautions to eliminate practices that  pose grave dangers to lives and property, saying the role of regulatory agencies in oil and gas sector are not only statutory but indispensable.

Earlier, the Chairman LPGAR – NUPENG, Anambra State Chapter, Comrade Nwabueze Ihere stated that the visit was to familiarize and establish collaboration with the NSCDC to rid the state of unethical practices in the distribution of gas.

Comrade Nwabueze  raised the alarm over the influx  of substandard cylinders and Liquefied Petroleum Gas(LPG), popularly called cooking gas with high propane content in circulation and  expressed the  union’s readiness to collaborate with the NSCDC to ensure sanity in the state.

The  move according to him is  to improve safety and security in the oil and gas sector, combat illegal activities, and ensure compliance with  international best practices.
