NHRC PARTNERS LAGOS NSCDC ON PROTECTION OF RIGHTS OF WOMEN, CHILDREN AND PWDS

The State Co – ordinator, National Human Rights Commission ( NHRC ), Lagos State Chapter, Mr Lucas Koyejo, made a visit to the office of the State Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps ( NSCDC ), Lagos State Command, Mr Adedotun Keshinro.

The crux of the visit of the Lagos State Co – ordinator, NHRC was aimed, at ensuring partnership, with the Lagos State Command, in a bid to protect vulnerable groups such as; Women, Children, Persons With Disabilities ( PWDS ) and Persons living with HIV, TB and other Health issues.

The State Co – ordinator, NHRC, Lagos State, Mr Lucas Koyejo also stated that there was need to ensure how we can all prevent vulnerable groups from being discriminated and criminalized.

The Lagos State Commandant, commended the NHRC, for deeming it feat, to visit his office. He further stated that the Corps doesn’t only ensure protection of vulnerable groups but also take into cognizance gender sensitivity, during its internal and external dealings with the general public.

The Lagos State Commandant further explained that the Command has continued, to ensure effective collaboration, with other sister security agencies, to enhance good working relationships, in a bid to remove encumberances that may delay investigative procedures of criminal cases.

The NHRC and NSCDC in Lagos yesterday, Thursday, 8th May, 2025 have agreed, to partner with each other in the area of training and the enforcement of protection of rights of vulnerable groups, just to mention a few.
