As part of ongoing efforts to enhance welfare and operational readiness, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, has commissioned some major infrastructure projects at Nigerian Air Force (NAF) bases in Enugu and Owerri.
In Enugu, the CAS commissioned a remodelled and fully furnished Senior Non-Commissioned Officers’ (SNCOs’) Mess, officers’ transit accommodation, and a gymnasium. “These projects reflect our unwavering commitment to a motivated, mission-ready force,” said the CAS. “We’re investing in people because they are our greatest asset.”
In Owerri, the CAS inaugurated a newly built 30-room accommodation facility for airmen at the 211 Quick Response Group. The centrally located facility is designed to improve unit cohesion, command structure, and rapid deployment, key components of the Quick Response concept. Speaking at the event, Air Marshal Abubakar described the project as a “significant milestone” in NAF’s commitment to national security and personnel welfare.
He also reaffirmed NAF’s dedication to ongoing infrastructure development, noting that two blocks of 30-unit one-bedroom officers’ quarters are currently under construction in Enugu to address accommodation challenges and further support operations in the Southeast.
These projects are part of the CAS’s broader Command Philosophy aimed at ensuring that NAF personnel are empowered to defend Nigeria with excellence.
