YOU MADE 6 DIVISION PROUD, GOC TO PUPILS WHO EMERGED BEST IN COAS LITERARY COMPETITION

Two pupils of Command Children School (CSS), Port Harcourt Barracks, Masters Daniel Mesack and David Otamiri have emerged victorious in the maiden Edition of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Literary Competition, which was concluded on 28 February 2024. While eulogizing the pupils for emerging First and Third positions respectively, the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 6 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Jamal Abdussalam,  congratulated them for the feat they have attained, adding that 6 Division is proud of their achievements. He gave the eulogy,  while presenting the COAS awards to them at CCS, Port Harcourt Barracks, on 25 June 2024. 

Major General Abdussalam further remarked that the award epitomises the commitment put in by their parents, teachers and other stakeholders who moulded them to this level. The presentation, he further stressed was done elaborately to encourage other pupils to emulate them for the excellent job they have done, adding that it will serve as an inspiration to others. He called on all the pupils in the school to be discipline, attentive and above all respect and support their parents. 

The GOC used the medium to encourage other pupils to identify their strengths and put in effort to excel in those areas. The areas he mentioned include sports, arts, mathematics, engineering, medicine, law amongst others. He also called on stakeholders to continue to invest in the education of youngsters as the society would be better for it.

Earlier, while delivery the welcome address, the Acting Deputy Director, 6 Division Education Services , Lt Col Prince Agbai said the award was a welcome development that would spur other pupils to work hard in order to get to the top. He thanked the COAS and the GOC for the level of support they have been providing for the educational development of the wards of personnel. This he said is in line with the Command Philosophy of the COAS, which has welfare as one of the cardinal pillars.

The Headmistress, CCS, Mrs Onwuzuruigbo Taiwo, while giving vote of thanks, appreciated the COAS for creating a platform for quality education to be sustained in NA schools. She said this will remarkably encourage students in their feature endeavours. She also appreciated the GOC for the honour accorded the school in presenting the awards, which she described as a rear privilege they will never take for granted. 

The COAS Literary Competition was an event that was organised nationwide amongst pupils of NA schools. The event saw Master Daniel Mesack emerged First position with a cash prize of Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira while Master David Otamiri emerged 3rd position with a cash prize of Fifty Thousand Naira only.
