Police confirms dynamite explosion in Rivers

The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed a dynamite explosion in the Hotel Presidential axis of Port Harcourt.

The state Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, who confirmed the incident during a live television programme, assured that investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

CP Disu emphasized his neutrality in the ongoing crises within Rivers State, pledging to uphold the truth.

He also revealed that the Commissioner of Police in charge of Onne Port recently made a significant seizure of firearms, which is also under investigation.

CP Disu also disclosed that the Rivers State Police Command has declared wanted, an unnamed militia member, seen in a viral video threatening to take over local government secretariats, after he failed to comply with police investigations.

The man is alleged to be part of a protest by politicians in Obio/Akpor local government area, who are supporters of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike on Tuesday.
