OPERATION SAFE HAVEN ORGANISES STAKEHOLDERS ENGAGEMENT FOR PEACEFUL FARMING SEASON IN PLATEAU

In a continued efforts to solidify peace and security gains across its Joint Operations Area, Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) and 3 Division Nigerian Army convened a one-day Stakeholders Meeting with key stakeholders from Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State. This collaborative initiative aimed to foster a secure and successful 2025 farming season by bringing together diverse perspectives from within the Community.

In his remarks, the General Officer Commanding 3 Division and Commander OPSH, Major General Folusho Oyinlola emphasized the farming season timeliness as communities prepare for agricultural activities. He underscored that security forms the foundation for societal progress, enabling economic activities like farming and herding to flourish. The GOC highlighted Plateau State’s rich agricultural resources and the importance of building upon existing security successes to promote peaceful coexistence.

Furthermore, General Oyinlola noted that previous engagements of this nature yielded significant results for OPSH, contributing to a reduction in farmer-herder clashes and facilitating a peaceful harvest and yuletide season the previous year. With optimism, he expressed hope that the current engagement would further strengthen the operational area’s security, paving the way for a secure farming season for all.

The Special Guest of Honour, His Excellency Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang represented by Rt Hon Istifanus Mwansat, Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Duties, urged traditional rulers and leaders to set examples of peaceful conduct for their communities to emulate. The Governor pledged continued support for enhancing OPSH’s operational effectiveness in Plateau State. Additionally, Dr. Julie Sanda, Director-General of the Plateau Peace Building Agency, commended the initiative’s grassroots focus and urged attendees to prevent criminals from finding refuge within their communities.

Furthermore, His Royal Highness Da Lawrence Amadam Aizate, the Saf Kulere and Acting President of the Bokkos Traditional Council, praised OPSH and other security agencies for maintaining relative peace in the area. He further called on OPSH to intensify efforts against criminal elements as the farming season approaches.

The engagement saw participation from a wide range of stakeholders, including Hon Amalau Samuel Amalau, Chairman of Bokkos LGA, the Plateau State Commissioner of Police, the State Commandant of the NSCDC, traditional rulers, religious figures, youth and women leaders. The event concluded with stakeholder remarks, invited guest speeches, and a group photograph, signifying a unified commitment to peaceful coexistence and a secure farming season in Bokkos.
