Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma has pleaded for more effective security operation from the Nigerian military and other security agencies to tame the tide of insecurity pervading the State and the southeast region in general.

He made the plea while hosting the General Officer commanding 82 Division, Enugu, Major Gen.Oluyemi Thomas Olatoye and his team at the new Executive Chambers, Government House, Owerri.

Uzodinma, however, commended the Nigerian Military, as well as other collaborative security agencies, for their efforts in stemming the upsurge of insecurity in the State and the entire Southeast region.

The Governor said that his administration’s success was due to what he described as invaluable efforts, sacrifices and determination of the security agencies which he said guaranteed an enabling environment for development in the State.

He maintained that no government could thrive in an atmosphere of violence, emphasizing the need to strengthen the security agencies in order to create a more enabling environment for the safety of the people.

The Governor urged the military to remain steadfast and count on the support of his Government at all times.

Uzodinma noted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration had invested so much to confront the spate of insecurity in the country, and maintained that security of lives and property of the citizenry and residents was paramount to his administration.

He encouraged the GOC, who is equally the Commander of Operation “UDOKA” in the South East, to collaborate with the Governors of the South East region to guarantee greater peace in the zone.

Earlier, Major Gen. Olatoye, said he was in the State on an official tour of commands under Sector 4, to ascertain their operational readiness, appraise their challenges and proffer necessary advice to enhance their operations.

The GOC expressed appreciation to Governor Uzodinma for his efforts in the area of security as the Chief custodian of the State, as he encouraged him not to relent.

Olatoye promised that the Army under his watch in the area would improve on its efforts in fighting insurgency within the State and the entire Southeast region.
