The Army announced the successful operations in a statement on X.com on Friday. One terrorist was killed during the rescue mission, and a substantial cache of weapons was seized.

The operations focused on terrorist staging areas around Pulka and Ashagashiya in Gwoza Local Government Area. “Troops executed an ambush operation targeting terrorists. One terrorist was neutralized, and the others fled, abandoning their belongings,” the statement read. The recovered items included a submachine gun, bicycles, blankets, and cooking utensils.

In a similar operation in the Komala area, troops ambushed terrorists, resulting in the death of one and the recovery of additional weapons. The recovered arms included two AK-47 rifles, magazines with 29 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition, and 91 belted links of PKT ammunition. Other items included an SMG, a motorbike, and nine rounds of 9 mm ammunition.

The Army also reported a successful operation in Benue State. Acting on intelligence about terrorist movements in Ayati Village, Ukum LGA, troops launched a swift operation that forced the terrorists to flee, abandoning an assortment of arms, including AK-47 and Dane rifles, launchers, and ammunition.

In Kogi State, the Army disrupted a planned ransom payment to kidnappers. Working with local hunters, troops engaged the kidnappers in a gunfight, killing one and recovering an AK-47 rifle, ammunition, and a motorcycle.

These operations underscore the Nigerian Army’s commitment to restoring peace and security in the region, demonstrating their capability to conduct effective counter-terrorism measures and protect civilian lives.
