COAS ASSURES YOBE STATE GOVERNMENT OF COMMITMENT TO DEAL WITH SECURITY CHALLENGES

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede has assured the Yobe State Government of Nigerian Army’s commitment to deal with security challenges in the state. The COAS gave the assurance on Sunday 26 January 2025 during a visit to Yobe State Governor, Hon Mai Mala Buni in Damaturu, the Yobe State capital, as part of his ongoing operational tour of the Joint Task Force, North East, Operation HADIN KAI.

Gen Oluyede intimated the governor that he would ensure that troops are provided with all the necessary support to be able to carry out their task of securing the state. He appreciated the government and the people of Yobe State for their support to the troops.

Responding, Governor Buni expressed appreciation to the COAS for the visit and called for escalation of concerted effort to decisively deal with the security situation in the state. He pledged his continous support to the troops to facilitate the attainment of their objectives. The governor seized the opportunity to pray for the repose of the souls of the troops who paid the supreme price for the restoration of peace in the state.

Earlier, in an address to troops of Sector 2 Operation HADIN KAI, the COAS commended the troops for their doggedness and resilience in the face of the adversity. He urged them not to relent until the adversaries of the nation are brought to their knees and guaranteed his unflinching support to enhance their welfare and operational effectiveness. The Army Chief charged the troops to remain committed while he strives to provide improved accommodation for them and their families, kitting and the provision of adequate combat enablers.

While at the Theatre Command, the COAS received briefs on ongoing operations and commended the officers and soldiers for their efforts, urging them to do more. He assured of his continued support to enable them to carry out their tasks professionally.
